Emily Sullivan Barger is a video producer and filmmaker based in the New York metropolitan area. She currently works as freelance producer/editor at AJ+ after spending over four years at NowThis News, where she created short and mid-form videos for Instagram, X, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. Emily spent the better part of her last year at NowThis producing mini-docs, explainers, and op-eds relating to criminal legal reform and public health for the Impact team. Prior to that, she covered news and politics daily, reporting on both Trump impeachments, the racial justice protests of 2020, the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and more. Her curious and empathetic approach to interviews has yielded successful videos that garner millions of views. Previously, Emily served as an associate producer and second shooter at Refinery29. Emily holds a BA in Film Production and a minor in Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies from Emerson College, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Muslim Studies and Christian-Muslim Relations from Hartford International University for Religion and Peace.
